Being Home Wise

Fashionable doors are all the rage, but if you are looking to marry style with quality, then head to the House of Kyrav. You will be pleasantly surprised by its wide variety of designer doors from leading European brands Barausse and Vicaima. The House of Kyrav (formerly Barausse India) was founded in 2012 by MM Philip with the sole aim of taking care of the branded pre-hung door market in India. Says MM Philip, “The inspiration to start a first-of-its-kind retail concept of designer doors came from the fact that most builders and homes had no choices of high-quality designer doors in India.” Thus, the first retail concept of designer branded doors was opened in Chennai and Hyderabad by the House of Kyrav. They have exclusive distribution agreements with Vicaima to take care of the growing requirement of high-quality doors for projects, and Barausse to take care of the designer door segment of the market.

Founded in 1959, Vicaima is a worldwide name in the interior doors market. From its home in northern Portugal, the group supplies doors and door sets to over 27 countries, globally. The Vicaima mission is best summed up as a passion for innovation with quality construction. Its determination in these areas is reflected in Vicaima’s achievements in certification and specification, making its timber door and related products highly-sought-after and widely-recognised by specifiers all over the world.

Barausse has been producing high-quality designer interior doors for residential, business and hotel applications since 1967; more than 40 years of experience in the design and production of inside doors for homes, companies and hotels. Constant evolution keeps them in tune with the market, while their main principles remain strong: the guaranteed quality of their products and the proposal of exclusive solutions that are marked by technological innovation and style.

Functional elegance

Shares Philip on the journey so far, “The journey has been fairly successful. We had to do a lot of concept selling and now, we are happy to find more builders and residences adopting this concept in their homes.” This is because at the House of Kyrav, they believe in providing a door solution to the discerning customer, where every door is piece of art. Leading designers like Iosa Gini have an entire portfolio of doors for Barausee.

Vicaima, on the other hand, focuses on providing entire solutions for large projects in the housing, hospitality and healthcare sectors. The latest project of Vicaima is the entire fitout of the Sofitel Hotel in Dubai, which was opened to the public recently.

To maintain quality, Philip says, “All the doors are imported directly from Europe. In India, we have trained manpower to carry out the installation of these doors.”

Innovation is key

The House of Kyrav offers sturdy, sleek and stylish doors in different combinations of material like wood, glass and aluminum that is modern and durable. The doors are available in over 150 designs and colours, offering plenty of scope for individual design and tastes. Chocolate is just one of six contemporary colours introduced by Vicaima as part of their new stained doors range, which answers the growing trend for attractively stained real wood veneers in modern homes, apartments and hotel suites. Paul Smith fabric panels are one of the latest used by Barausse for their doors, giving it the true designer touch!

Recent interior design has seen resurgence in the appeal created by natural wood tones within homes and leisure facilities, and is typified by the use of stained wood for flooring, stairs, kitchen cabinets and even furniture. A door is no more looked at as a functional element of the house, but a very important decorative element.

Philip concludes with his future plans, “We are currently working with leading builders and architects, and hope to be available with designer door showrooms in other parts of India soon.”
